Chapter Three: Where we celebrate Galentine's Day!

I confess I’ve never been a huge fan of Valentine’s Day – it seems a bit over exposed, and it is certainly a holiday that can make some people feel quite anxious and left out.

But Galentine’s Day – that’s another story entirely.

What is Galentine’s Day, you ask?    If you watch Parks and Rec, you may remember that Leslie Knope introduced us to Galentine’s Day in Season 2.  As Leslie says:  "Oh, it's only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It's like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”

My Galentines are a huge part of my story – they are the ones that are there in the good and the bad, offering support and good advice, and sometimes a little push.  Whether or not a Gal has a soap named after her, I want her to know I appreciate her.  And while I try to say it often, what better day to make sure I say it than Galentine’s Day.  I’m celebrating my Galentines, near and far, with notes and Kalliope product.  To thank them for being part of my story, to offer a little encouragement, and because it’s February, and we all need a little lift in February.

Who are your Galentines?  You may see them every day, you may not have seen them for a while -   sisters, mothers, cousins, friends from elementary school, the gal across the aisle at work.

So let’s celebrate our Galentines – with notes, with phone calls, with a little gift, just because.  And while you are at it, celebrate with a little something for yourself.  Because you are somebody’s Galentine!

Next time:  the story behind Sophia, because it really is romantic, and after all, it will be Valentine's Day soon!
